Where Everyone Is Special

History of Living Water Baptist Church

  • September 1989  A dream was born for a group of believers who desired to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, through a local church, in an atmosphere of acceptance and love for all people.
  • October 1989  The church offically organized as Living Water and became a part of Waccamaw Baptist Association with Rev. Lebron Crisp as pastor.  The 80 member congregation continued to meet in the banquet room of Billy the Kid's Restaurant for two years.  During that time membership grew.  Land was purchased, building plans developed, and excitement grew as a dream became reality!
  • October 1991  Living Water celebrated its first service in a newly built sanctuary in August, 1991, and on October 5 dedicated the building which was built by volunteers from Builders for Christ, South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama.
  • Spring 1994  Expansion was soon necessary and included additional Sunday School rooms, bathrooms, and a choir room.
  • Summer 1996  Continued growth presented a need for additional space.  A fellowship building was added to accommodate Bible Study classes, social functions, and youth activities.
  • Summer 2000  Found us once again in the midst of a building program.  This building was planned to be used for all Bible Study classes from nursery to senior adults.  A large choir room was included.  The new structure more than doubled the size of the current facility.  The new building was constructed to meet requirements for a Day Care/Pre-School Program, sometime in the future.  Since occupying the building in March, 2001, Bible Study attendance had doubled.
  • March 2002  Future Growth Campaign is being introduced with the three-year goal of paying off our present debt and the planning of the construction of a 1000 seat auditorium.  With church membership approaching 500, our present sanctuary is near capacity for two Sunday morning worship services.  TO GOD BE THE GLORY!  Excitement is high as spiritual and numerical growth is being experienced in all areas of ministry.
  • February 2004 Added 150 seats to sanctuary including expanded choir loft and stage to bring capacity to 375.
  • February 2006 Purchased 6.49 acres to bring total for church campus to 15.34 acres for reaching our community for Christ.
